Autumn Zuckerman, PharmD, BCPS, CSP is the Director of Health Outcomes and Research at Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy (VSP) where she leads a team of pharmacists and researchers in studying all aspects of care surrounding specialty pharmacy. Through strategic collaborations, Dr. Zuckerman and her team utilize research findings to drive innovative, evidence-based changes that improve specialty patient care. Using peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and podcasts, the VSP team has repeatedly demonstrated the benefit of the health-system specialty pharmacy model in helping patients access and maintain on specialty medications.
After receiving her PharmD degree from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Dr. Zuckerman completed two years of ASHP-accredited residency training at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System VA specializing in ambulatory care. Dr. Zuckerman began working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Infectious Diseases Clinic. In 2017, she created the Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy Health and Outcomes Research program to demonstrate the health system specialty pharmacists’ value through research and quality improvement. The program has been recognized regionally and nationally and has enabled VSP to improve patient care and collaborate with other specialty pharmacy stakeholders to improve medication access for patients. Dr. Zuckerman is an affiliate professor at University of Tennessee College of Health Sciences, Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy, and Belmont University College of Pharmacy. She has received several awards including the Distinguished Service Award for the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy Carl Wayne Shaddix Pharmacy Practitioner of Excellence Award.
